Frequently Asked Questions / General Troubleshooting / Tips and Tricks

    • What is the intent of the Evaluation Kit?

      • The Everactive Evaluation Kit enables hardware engineers and developers to experiment with energy harvesting and Everactive’s proprietary low powered technology for IoT applications. The intent is to then ideate as to how this technology could be applied to their applications as Everactive opens up the technology stack to modularize the tech to incorporate and be the foundational component to enable those applications to become batteryless.

    • Why do you recommend setting up the Evergateway dongle and software before setting up the sensors for harvesting and testing?

      • Given the low-light required to power the sensors, the sensors will start powering up and trying to associate with a gateway. If the sensor cannot find a gateway initially, it can lengthen the sensor-to-gateway association process to as long as 35 minutes.

      • You can, however, utilize the provided programming board. This will reset the sensors and start another association cycle to reduce the 35 minute wait time.
  •
    • Why does the Evaluation Kit come with a programming board?

      • The programming board enables the ability to reset the sensor.

      • Furthermore, as we look to build out enhancements and open the firmware, we wanted to provide an ability for device configurability through the programming board capability.

    • I'm not seeing data in the cloud?  What can I do to troubleshoot?

      • You could reset the sensors using the programming board. This enables the sensor to reset and re-associate with the the gateway.

      • You may also need to consider corporate IT requirements for setting up your virtual gateway

      • If you have network security tools such as firewalls, ensure that the following settings are open to accommodate gateway traffic:
