An MHM sensor may be stud mounted to the surface of a machine when:
- The highest quality vibration data is required.
- There is not enough physical space on the asset for magnet or epoxy mounting.
Mounting Process:
- Select a location on the asset to be monitored at either the inboard or outboard end of the unit, oriented vertically or horizontally.
- Use a spot-facing tool to "face-off" the MHM sensor install location on the asset, with a hole size for a 1/4"-28 thread to be applied.
- Thread the hole created by the spot-facing tool with a 1/4"-28 tap.
- Remove the MHM sensor from its base by unscrewing the thumbscrew and sliding the base off.
- Attach the MHM sensor base to the asset, using a 1/4"-28 socket head bolt by running the bolt through the base; orient the base such that the antenna of the sensor is perpendicular to the rotational axis of the motor.
- Attach the MHM sense node to the base by sliding the sensor into the base and tightening the thumbscrew
- Connect and dress the TEG, PV, and cables for the MHM power train.
